Thurman Kelso 'Tex' Treadwell,
passed away on April 1st, 2003. Tex was a pioneer in
the collecting of stereoviews, and he and Wm. Darrah collaborated on their
important resource, Stereographers of the World, from which I often quote
in my stereoview descriptions. Tex also initiated and carried on the listing
of major stereographers' negative numbers and titles, working with many
collectors who contributed information. His influence on the National Stereoscopic
Association Board was significant and cannot be replaced. Yet, his life
consisted of much more than stereo image collecting, as anyone who has
read the three volumes of his unfinished autobiography will attest. Tex's
presence here in this world will be missed, especially by family and his
many friends, but his contributions to the hobby of stereoview collecting
will live on.
